There are so many different compensation plans and business models in the world of home based business and network marketing. I have personally tried several and will outline the main differences in the ones I have tried so far…
First and probably the most popular one out there is the MLM or multi level marketing plan.
With this plan you can usually get started in your own business for very little up front investment. In most cases you will be buying product monthly, which is put on a monthly autoship program for you. You will likely have a company replicated website which you will use to market the product and/or the business opportunity.
There are a couple ways that you will make money with this marketing plan. You will make commissions off any products that gets sold through your website. You will make a commission when someone signs up under you to get started in THEIR business. Once you start signing people up under you, you will then get paid a commission of any products bought and/or sold through them.
With most MLM marketing plans, they give you a 3 or 5 year plan to follow. That is how long it will take you to reach a six figure income….and if you concentrate on building a good solid team, you will have residual income that can trickle in for years.
Then there is the one-up or two-up plan or in some cases it’s called the Aussie system.
This plan is a direct sales marketing plan, modeled after real estate car dealerships. Kirby vacuum cleaners and Britanica encyclopedia salesmen used this method. It is a simple method of having someone mentor and guide you through your first several sales and for their guidance, they get those sales. After that, not only are you in 100% profit but as you mentor and teach others, THEY will now pass up their first sales to you.
With this plan it typically costs more to get into business and you will likely be marketing more of a high end product. If you are needing to replace an income or have a goal to reach six figures within your very first year, this is the plan you will want to consider.
Keep in mind that the cost to market a product is the same, regardless if you have a $30 product or a $3000 one. The investment of time spent working your home based business will be the same. The advertising costs are the same.
I have worked both MLM marketing plans and the direct sales model and the best home business opportunity to get you to a six figure income quickly is the direct sales model. There is a 98% failure rate with the MLM marketing plan and that is typically because people give up within their first year.
