If you are considering the prospect of writing an Ebook, you likely have a fairly good base of knowledge on the topic at hand. Unfortunately, having a handle on the subject is only part of the equation when you consider Ebook publishing and Ebook marketing. Publishing and marketing are two very different aspects of the entire Ebook process when you stack them up against writing the book. Understanding what each of these necessary fields entails is the only way to truly get the most out of your efforts.
Who markets to whom?
The very first item for consideration is understanding the demographic you are publishing and marketing to. An Ebook marketing strategy for one demographic won’t be the same as one for another. Although it may be a generalization, start with the age demographic. Younger buyers may be a bit more receptive to electronic marketing techniques then older ones. This, however, is not to say that you should stay away from traditional channels. Older readers are likely to head right for Amazon or Barnes & Noble’s so these two major retailers need to be factored it.
Know your style
Ebook publishing is quite a bit easier then the marketing aspect of the process. It does, however, need to be done correctly. Invest some time and maybe a little money in a program that will help you format the Ebook properly. Also, make sure that you spend time getting the format, look and grammar correct. People are lazy when it comes to grammar and other aspects of writing, but they do know a poor product when they see one.
